Microneedling or collagen induction therapy is a cosmetic procedure that stimulates collagen production in the skin. This minimally invasive process is safe for all skin types and produces desired results for people of all ages. Due to its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production, microneedling is a very effective treatment for acne and surgical scars, fine lines, and open pores.
At AJK Skin & Laser Centre, every needle depth, speed, number of sessions, and aftercare plan is based on your skin type and condition and your specific expectations. In the past two years, we have treated more than 200 patients for anti-ageing under the guidance of Dr. Selvam and Dr. Nirmala.
During the procedure, your healthcare expert cleans the skin and applies Lidocaine gel, a numbing gel, to minimise the discomfort. The gel is applied about thirty or forty minutes before the procedure so that the ointment can take effect. Following that, your healthcare provider will make the wounds by gently rolling an electric tool or a hand-held roller with tiny needles across your skin.
Once the procedure begins, you may feel a warm or scratching sensation and slight bleeding. The discomfort may be more pronounced near bony areas, like your cheekbones. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the microneedling procedure may take anywhere from fifteen minutes to a few hours.
After the procedure, you may experience the following:
In most cases, microneedling treatments should be spaced out about three weeks to 8 weeks apart. Results can be seen after three to six months. The procedure may need to be repeated once a year thereafter.
Microneedling may not suit everyone. If you have the following issues, please consult your doctor:
Since microneedling has both cosmetic and medical benefits, it is an ideal option for treating:
For optimal results, most people need 3 to 6 sessions.
