Acne causes altered collagen because of inflammation and leads to skin depression. Acne scars are best treated with a laser. The laser doesn't harm the skin around it. When applied to a spot, the heat energy produced by laser promotes collagen formation, eventually leading to the area's remodelling. That being said, lasers pose no threat whatsoever and are safe to use.

In terms of scar revision, these systems are globally recognised as the most advanced. Each of these lasers is effective and harmless to the skin.
Fraxel uses a laser split into thousands of tiny beams to create these MicroThermal Zones, which look like little dots or pixels on the skin (MTZs).
These MTZs act like an ablative laser, penetrating deep into the skin to destroy the old cells. The laser only harms the specific MTZs it is aimed at, leaving the rest of the tissue unharmed. Because of this, the skin can heal much more quickly than if the entire epidermis were removed, as would happen with an ablative laser. Any aesthetic CO2 laser does not match the UltraPulse system's penetration depth. The ratio of ablation to coagulation is also excellent.
The controlled micro-injuries created by these treatments leave a healthy margin of skin unharmed and ensure rapid recovery with little to no downtime. The subsequent production of collagen replaces the damaged tissue, lessening and, in some cases, eliminating the appearance of scars. Before performing any procedure, the dermatologists at AKJ Skin and Laser Centre will examine the patient's medical records and perform a physical examination.
