On the day of your appointment, you can visit us at the AKJ Skin & Laser Centre near the TVS showroom and RMKV, on Trivandrum Road, Vannarpettai, at Tirunelveli. It is located 0.7km from the Vanarapettai bus stop and 1.75km from the (TEN) railway station.
Since the procedure will not take more than an hour, you can return home on the same day. We also suggest you carry loose-fitting clothing to wear right after the procedure.
Here’s step-wise guidance on what to expect during your varicose vein treatment at AKJ:
Step 1: Once you have changed into a procedural gown, you will be asked to lie on the examination table, which will be tilted in different positions during the procedure. You will be asked to wear special goggles to protect your eyes from the laser light.
Step 2: Your doctor will give you a shot of lidocaine or numbing medication to numb the area where the catheter or tube will be inserted into your vein. Our medical team will also check your vein using a Doppler ultrasound before and during the procedure.
Step 3: A catheter will be inserted through a small incision or cut on your skin by your healthcare provider. A laser fibre will be put into the catheter, which will be guided into the varicose vein.
Step 4: Once the catheter is slowly removed, the laser will heat the length of the vein. After a few days, the vein will close up and eventually shrink. Our clinical assistant will bandage the catheter incision to keep it clean and infection-free.
With AKJ, you can always rest assured that you will receive the right treatment, care and guidance. We adopt a tailored approach for every patient who comes to us for varicose veins treatment.
Varicose and spider veins are some of the most commonly known vein diseases affecting men and women. Initially, varicose veins may not show any signs and symptoms. However, as the condition worsens, you may experience the following symptoms:
The condition makes sufferers feel self-conscious and prevents them from living a healthy, active lifestyle.
Varicose veins are caused by anomalies in the veins, which are the leading carriers of blood from the legs to the heart. Blood flowing through the veins travels only in one direction with the help of one-way valves that prevent the backflow of blood. Sometimes, the valves malfunction causing the blood to flow backwards inside the veins, increasing the internal pressure. This malfunctioning weakens the blood vessel walls and dilates them. As the veins get bigger, the one-way valves cannot function efficiently, causing the blood the pool up in the veins. The improper blood flow causes the veins to bulge up.
People with poorly functioning or leaky superficial veins on the legs are ideal candidates for ELVeS. Both the great saphenous vein and the small saphenous vein can be treated with this system.
An ELVeS treatment generally enables quick and pain-free recovery. After the ELVeS procedure, the doctor applies a compression garment on the affected area. The patient will be made to walk around until they feel comfortable, after which they can leave. This process will last for only twenty minutes.
ELVeS has, thus far, worked successfully for nearly 98% of patients with varicose veins. The treatment renders instant relief from pain. When the IV site heals, the bulges and lumps disappear, leaving the skin colour and texture in alignment with the surrounding tissues.
The cost depends on the patient’s condition and the type of treatment required.
