To begin the procedure, the area to be treated is adequately cleaned, and then a topical anaesthetic gel is applied. Next, an optimal wavelength and pulse duration of a laser beam of high-intensity light is shone on the area. This high-intensity laser light is absorbed by the hair follicle, which is then destroyed when the light energy from the laser beam is converted into heat energy.
