Drs Selvam and Nirmala have more than ten years of experience in hair transplantation treatment, and they provide the best care possible, tailored to your individual needs. When compared with the conventional "strip method" techniques used in Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) procedures, the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method of hair transplant surgery has been shown to provide significant benefits to patients.
Hair transplantation is the most effective and long-lasting treatment for baldness. Instead of removing hair from strips of skin, hair transplantation uses a patient's healthy hair follicles, each containing three to four hairs. The back and sides of the head are the most common areas to harvest hair from. Only hair follicles at a time are extracted using micro-instruments. Here are the steps for hair transplantation procedure taken at AKJ Skin and Laser Centre clinic: -
Step 01 - Design
The new hairline is designed keeping the existing hairline and the desired results in mind. The design includes the projected number of grafts to create a natural looking hairline.
Step 02 - Anaesthesia
A local anaesthesia is applied to the donor and recipient areas of the scalp to keep the patient comfortable during the procedure.
Step 03 - Site Making
Sites are created in the scalp by making incisions where the graft will be implanted. Hair follicles are individually removed from the donor area of the scalp and placed in the sites.
Step 04 - Extraction
The hair grafts are excised from the donor area and then counted and prepared for implantation.
Step 05 - Implantation
The hair grafts are placed in the sites created by the surgeon. Hair follicles are strategically placed to match the natural curvature of the hair of the patient.
Most hair transplant procedures are performed on men with male pattern baldness who have a sufficient and stable supply of donor hair in the back of their scalp. Some others are:
We take great care to ensure that our patients are completely at ease during their entire procedure here at AKJ Skin and Laser Centre. Thanks to modern local anaesthetics, your hair transplant should not hurt at all. During the process, patients can do whatever makes them feel most comfortable, whether resting, listening to music, or watching television.
Small scabs will form on the scalp at the grafted site immediately after surgery, but they will fall off within 4-10 days. After 2–4 weeks, the grafted hair will naturally fall out. In 3–4 months, you should notice the start of new hair growth, with subsequent growth averaging about half an inch per month. After 9–12 months, the final result should be visible.
The total cost of your hair transplant will be determined by the technique you select and the number of grafts necessary to restore your hair.
Your hair transplant can be nearly undetectable with today's knowledge and tools. A natural hairline that grows in the same direction as the rest of your hair can be achieved with the help of modern hair transplantation techniques.
After surgery, your doctor is in the best position to advise you on whether or not maintenance therapy will be helpful. To maintain the results of your hair restoration, we recommend taking medication for hair loss or undergoing low-level laser therapy.
